Obsession defcon 6 review12/10/2023 Compared with the rest of the industry, the price is near the higher end of the spectrum, but for what you get with that price, their bows are a great value. Price RangeRanging from $829 to $859 with their current 2014 lineup, their price includes all custom options of cams, riser, and strings. Towards the target/3D spectrum, their Addiction, at 35" ATA still reaches speeds up to 332 fps. At 32" ATA, these were created to be outside, whether in the stand or on the trails. Comparatively, the Pheonix, the same bow except with a 7" brace height, is rated up to 343 fps. Their top of the line speed bow, the Evolution is rated up to 353 fps. Hunting/3D Bows: Built specifically for hunting, the Sniper GT is a 29 7/8" ATA shooting machine, clocking 343 fps. Also available in Muddy Girl Camo, this bow weighs 3.9 lbs and has a generous 7" brace height. Women's Bows: The Obsession LT reaches speeds up to 343 fps with a 29 7/8" ATA. Youth Bows: As of right now, there hasn't been a bow created specifically with youth archers in mind, but all models are available with limbs that max out at 40 lbs. Product RangeBeing such a new company, there are less than a dozen to choose from, but there are options for most age levels to choose from this year's lineup. Popularity and Customer FeedbackEven though Obsession has only been in the market for a few years, they are growing exponentially because of their extremely generous customer service and large amount of custom finish options from the factory. The engineered cutouts paired with a machined angled cable guide rod and a soft rubber string stop create a platform that kills the vibration that you would find in any other speed bows. Riser: Created out of machined aluminum like most bows, their bows have highly reflexed risers. The limb system on most of their models allows each bow to be considered past-parallel both at rest and at full draw. Limbs: Obsession's limb system involves a pre-compressed and stressed laminate to reach such high speeds. Their newest cam, found on most of their new models, has dual limb stops and is capable of reaching speeds up to 353 fps all the while keeping vibration and sound output to a minimum. If the Decree doesn't quite fit your needs, there is likely a perfect match out there somewhere.TechnologiesEccentric System: Starting with the Lethal Cam II and ending up with the latest Evolution cam, Obsession has reintroduced the two track dual sync cam to the industry. Compound bows are not a one size fits all fix these days, so determining what is important to you and matching that to a bow is important. It might be a good fit for someone who puts a high priority on arrow speed and likes the advantages of a longer bow. The PSE Decree is a high performance bow from one of the nation's top bow manufacturers. Like most things in archery, its all about preference and if your hunting setup allows for a longer bow you may benefit from the added length. With an axle to axle of 35 inches, it is a bit longer, but should be a bit more forgiving. That's where the PSE Decree takes a different approach. On the downside, shorter bows tend to not be as accurate as longer bows. The positive of shooting a shorter bow is obviously maneuverability in tight places. These days most bows tend toward a short profile to accommodate tree stand shooters and ground blinds. One aspect of this bow certain shooters will appreciate is the longer axle to axle measurement. As you can see that puts the Decree right up there in terms of speed, but remember speed isn't everything when it comes to performance. Actually, the fastest bow in the market is the PSE Full Throtle that can hit speeds of 370 feet per second. Generating speeds of up to 342 makes this bow one of the fastest on out there. PSE seems to put out fast bows and the Decree is no different. When it comes to performance the PSE Decree is near the top of the class. With this type of customization available, the PSE Decree likely will be able to match the specs you are looking for. It also has the ability to range in draw length from 25 1/2 to 31 1/2 inches. Each of your limb bolts has a 7 turn limit, so finding your correct draw weight isn't a big chore. For starters this bow has easily adjustable draw weight from the #70 model offered. The PSE Decree is a dual cam compound bow that has a few nice features. One of their newest bows, the PSE Decree compound bow, is the next step in a story that has been unfolding for nearly 50 years. Now PSE is one of the most respected names in the business with some of the best hunting and shooting stars preferring the PSE brand. Their founder, Pete Shepley, started with a dream of simply improving the bows he shot for fun. Since the 1970's, the folks at PSE archery have been pushing the limits to find what works in a bow. The PSE Decree is the next step in PSE's long history of high performance compound bows.
